Every child to school
Every child to school, regardless of parental position or health, preferably from a safe home base, that is our goal. So that they grow up to be independent and responsible adults.
Unfortunately, home is far from optimal for many children in the Dominican Republic: there is poverty, hunger, lack of water, lack of hygiene and lack of attention. They are missing 1 or 2 parents and therefore live with relatives. There is hardly any money for daily living expenses and the cost of education is prohibitive for many families.
We pay special attention to the group of children with disabilities. Deafness is relatively common in this country. In ordinary education, deaf children have no chance. Fortunately, there are nowadays deaf schools in a number of places. But this education is more expensive than regular education and creates even more financial problems for the parents.
